Wetall chose 147 vehicles to find the best options for tall drivers. The results show which models work best for people measuring over 6’3″ (1.90 m), 6’7″ (2.00 m), 6’11” (2.10 m), or even 7’2″ (2.20 m).

Dealerships
Tests were carried out at Jean Lain Occasions for German models, Jean Lain Nippon for Asian brands, Groupe Auto Bernard for Peugeot and Citroën, and Renault dealerships for Renault models. Additional tests were conducted in early February 2022 at Tesla Chignin and Ford Voglans. Thanks to all of them for their hospitality.
Testing Protocol
The goal was to determine which cars fit which driver heights. Each vehicle was scored using a standardized grid:
- A score out of 5 for legroom (particularly between the steering wheel and center console)
- A score out of 5 for headroom
Comments were added for each model to explain the ratings.
Models Tested
The 147 vehicles tested included:
Audi (22), Volkswagen (23), Renault (19), Toyota (18), Citroën (15), Peugeot (11), Hyundai (5), Lexus (5), Seat (4), Mercedes (3), BMW (2), and one each of Dacia, Jaguar, Kia, Mini, Nissan, Opel, Suzuki, Fiat, and Porsche — plus 3 Tesla and 10 Ford models.
Which Brands Work Best for Tall Drivers?
Most brands offer at least one model that can accommodate drivers over 6’11” (2.10 m), but some clearly stand out for very tall drivers.
German brands lead the pack — especially Volkswagen, Audi, and BMW. Seat also offers four models suitable for drivers over 7’2″ (2.20 m). Contrary to what you might expect, several Asian brands also perform well for drivers over 6’11”, though slightly fewer options are available than from German manufacturers. French brands offer some viable options for tall drivers, but proportionally fewer than their German or Asian counterparts.
Study Limitations
If newer versions of these vehicles were released after 2022, the results may no longer apply — interior dimensions can change significantly between generations. This list reflects the specific models tested and may not hold for newer releases.
