On January 12, 2004, The Tribune reported his height to be 8 feet 3 inches (251.4 cm), and it was noted that he was still growing. A year later, on June 10, 2005, another report claimed that Vikas Uppal had reached a towering height of 8 feet 9 inches (268 cm).
Hailing from the Haryana state of India, in the Rohtak district, Vikas Uppal made his presence known, figuratively and literally. A striking photograph of him at a rally hosted by the Indian National Lok Dal, captured on September 25, 2006, further highlighted his remarkable stature. He was often believed to be 8 feet 9 inches tall, although some sources suggested an unconfirmed height of 8 feet (244 cm). Born in 1986, it was likely that Vikas had ceased growing further, putting him in contention for the title of the world’s tallest living man. However, the Guinness Book of Records’ stringent verification process meant that he was not officially measured.
In addition to his remarkable height, Vikas Uppal was reported to have had exceptionally large hands, measuring 13 inches in length, and feet that were a staggering 19 inches long. Notably, he appeared to be proportionate, lacking the typical signs of a pathological giant, such as acromegaly.
Tragically, Vikas Uppal’s life was cut short. On June 30, 2007, he underwent surgery for a brain tumor in Delhi, India, which, regrettably, did not succeed.
